Niché dans la nature et au sein duquel les animaux sont omniprésents, les villas sont spacieuses, bien équipées et très propres. Very welcoming and attentive. Took our own drinks, which was not a problem at all. Food was a great selection between Sri Lankan and European, so would suit most people. If you are coming to stay here, book an extra day, just so you can chill out onsite. We stayed two nights but were only here for breakfast and dinner as out on local tours. We parted in room 1, over looking a small lake and trees, very secluded. Ac and fan kept the room cold. Would recommend if in this part of Sri Lanka.Posted onVerified Stunning rural location but all the amenities A lovely rural retreat but an ideal base to go off and see cultural triangle sites such as Sigiriya and Pollonaruwa Abundant wildlife…peacocks, land monitors, monkeys, beautiful birds and a herd of water buffalo who walk through the grounds for a dip in the lake and then eat the grass near the villas on the way back! The staff and the manager are lovely and made us feel most welcome. From here we could do the cultural triangle sights, returning each day for a swim and a tasty meal. The villas are spacious and cool and the surroundings so peaceful. The enviroment is rural - water buffalo wander past on their way for a dip - and peacocks strut about all day. Beautiful setting amidst the rice fields and jungle. Wild animals: buffalo, peacocks, chipmunks, large lizards.., in the grounds. Big, comfortable rooms with outdoor bathrooms. Nice pool.Posted onVerified Peace and quiet with lovely staff The rooms are big and comfortable (as is the bed). The outdoor bathroom, great fun. But it is nature, the lovely staff and the lovely architecture of the common area that makes this very small hotel (8 rooms I think). Set amidst the rice fields and jungle in front of a small lake wildlife abounds. We saw large lizards, wild buffalo, wild peacocks, chipmunks… in the grounds. The food ordered in the morning or on arrival for the evening is very good and they know about gluten and advised me accordingly. I would love to go back with more time there to relax.

Open plan beautiful reception. Very helpful staff and stunning lakeside views. We are a couple but have the family room facing the lovely swimming pool.Bed is super comfy. Outside bathroom and great aircon. The food is excellent with a choice of 3 options for dinner (4 courses). $17 Breakfast also excellent and plentiful to set you up for the day. No laundry service but we dropped our bag at a roadside laundry and it’s very cheap with 24hr turnaround. You are right in the jungle here surrounded by peacocks, chipmunks and buffalo. Kumbukgaha Villa is a truly beautiful and peaceful hideaway - the perfect base for exploring Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle. Set in the heart of the countryside, the location feels incredibly calm, tranquil, and special. Our room was stunning, the outdoor bathroom was such a unique touch, and the veranda was the perfect place to relax and take in the views (and the sounds of roaming peacocks!). The hospitality was exceptional throughout - from attentive room service and restaurant service to helping arrange tuk-tuks and an unforgettable safari experience. The food was also delicious, and we loved getting to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.
